...the Big Adventure

The BIG Adventure.
Everest Nepal Training Climb

In my group I am the only female, mother and
novice climber. Although I have been training for the last year and a half, this will be my first trek above 13k. This will be my first adventure outside the North America.

Our groups experience range in climbs on Aconcagua in Argentina, Kilimanjaro in Africa, previous Mount Everest Base Camp and major world travels.  The majority of our group will be trekking past base camp and on to Camp 4 and summit.

I was fortunate to travel from Mexico City to Puerto Vallarata  as an 8th grader, and then in my late 20so Ochos Rios Jamaica.  However, that is as far as my feet  have touched.  I have yet to visit Canada and Hawaii.  This will, be a pure dream come true, as far as seeing other lands and planting my feet at new heights.

The PLAN

We will fly from Southern California, USA to Kathmandu, Nepal. A spend a few days acclimating and exploring the city, surrounding cities and culture.

In Kathmandu, we will meet up the rest of our group and our trek guide and fly to Lukla to begin our trek on foot.
Hiking to teahouses or camping in Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Pangboche, Periche, Dugla, Lobuche,  and then Gorak Shep.   From Gorak Shep we continue on to Mount Everest Base Camp were the group will train, organize and acclimate for a couple of days before continuing up past the the Khumbu icefall's and on to the other camps.
Although my group will continue on past base camp without me and return intermintantly I will use this time to write, photograph, interview and draw, visit with other base campers and meet the different people  and their stories.  I will most likely trek to Kalapthar and other local stops.

When my group returns we will celebrate and make our way back to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu.

Having to fly into London Heathrow to transfer anyway, we plan to take advantage of being in Europe and spend a few days before returning to California.
